Museum > Project: Intel Exhibit

The client required non-standard colors for the acrylic pedestals. The budget did not allow for ordering the minimum number of acrylic sheets to accommodate the design, so we constructed clear pedestals for the exterior and devised channels to hold colored panels on the interior.

The colors were obtained by using gels applied to clear acrylic mitered panels that slip into the clear pedestals. This provided the interesting feature of having the vertical edges of the pedestals appear clear with the “body” of the pedestal being the selected color. Had we used a colored acrylic sheet instead, the edges would have appeared as a darkened color.

Material: Acrylite GP cell cast acrylic; colored gel panels, solvent-weld seams.
